Use of BECTU's website pages constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions. BECTU reserves the right to revise these terms and conditions at any time by posting revisions on this page. Users are bound by such revisions and should therefore periodically visit this page to review the current terms and conditions, and continued use after such revisions constitutes acceptance of this agreement as modified by such revisions.

Information on BECTU's website pages may contain inaccuracies or typographical errors and may be changed or updated without notice.

BECTU website pages are provided "as is". BECTU makes no representations or warranties, express or implied, including, but not limited to, warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement or accuracy.

In no event will BECTU be liable to any party for any direct, indirect, special or consequential damages for any use of BECTU website pages, including, without limitation, any lost profits, business interruption, loss of programs or other data.

If these terms and conditions are not accepted in full, the use of BECTU website pages must be terminated immediately.

e–Commerce Terms and Conditions

If you join the BECTU Sector of Prospect (BECTU) using our website then we are supplying you with trade union membership. By making an application for membership on this site you agree to be bound by our terms and conditions. These terms and conditions are subject to change without notice, and it is your responsibility to ensure you comply with the given terms and conditions.

Application, Acknowledgement and Acceptance

When you submit an application to join BECTU this is an application by you and you are bound by these terms and conditions. It is also subject to our subsequent acceptance. The contract would be between the Broadcasting Entertainment Communications and Theatre Union (BECTU Sector of Prospect) and the person wishing to join the BECTU Sector of Prospect (yourself).

Subscriptions

The membership subscriptions which would apply to you are as defined in our Rulebook which can be viewed here. Your membership will take effect as soon as your application has been processed by our Membership Department (usually within two working days). First you will receive an email acknowledging receipt of your application. If your application is successful you should receive a further confirmation email to say that you are now a member of the BECTU Sector of Prospect. We may be able to provide you with copies of these emails but would advise you to print a copy of all such documents for your records.

Right To Cancel

Under the Distance Selling Regulations of the United Kingdom you have the right to cancel your application for membership within a period of 7 working days from the date we send you an email confirming that you have been accepted into membership. During this period if you have started to make use of our services you will be unable to cancel your application for membership. To cancel your membership with us you must send an email or letter and the cancellation will only take effect if it is received at the BECTU Sector Office before the expiry of the seven day period. The email address is [email protected] and the postal address is at the bottom of the page. Please note that if you are paying by a credit or debit card it will be charged at the point of processing your application to join the BECTU Sector of Prospect. Instructions for direct debits will be processed to start on the date you have selected.

Geographical Limits

The BECTU Sector of Prospect organises people working in the entertainment and media industry of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. If you are not a resident of or do not work in either country you may need to join a different trade union. If you are unclear then you should email us on [email protected]. If you are joining online you should be aware that UK residents can pay by credit or debit card or by direct debit from your bank account. Residents of the Republic of Ireland can only pay by credit card as direct debits from banks outside of the United Kingdom are not acceptable.

Your Representations

You represent that the information you have provided when applying for membership of the BECTU Sector of Prospect is true, honest, accurate and up to date.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms and conditions are governed by the law of the United kingdom and in the event of any legal proceedings will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the United Kingdom courts.

The BECTU Sector of Prospect has the right to withdraw membership or vary the service that we offer to members.
