Adobe Photoshop - 1 Day Introduction

Course Description: This one day course will provide a solid introduction to Adobe Photoshop. It is suited to those with little experience of image editing and manipulation but it does require a general familiarity with the use of computers - opening, saving and copying files, launching applications, etc.  The course will be delivered on Apple iMac desktop computers.

We will cover the most frequently used Photoshop tools and techniques, allowing attendees to adjust and correct tone and colour in their images.  We will learn about the basics of colour spaces and the terms used to describe resolutions.  We will cover methods used to produce images that look good across web browsers and electronic devices like tablets and smart phones.

We will also cover, in a basic form, the techniques used to remove unwanted objects from a photograph and to combine elements from different images.  Our approaches will be non-destructive, meaning that you can go back to edit and improve your retouching work knowing that your original image data is intact.

Although this is not an advanced course, attendees will leave familiar with the most important concepts of a professional Photoshop workflow: the use of layers, layer masks, adjustment layers, filters, different file formats and the basic tools of Photoshop.  These core concepts will make it much easier to follow up with self study, where necessary, using online videos and books.
