Mentoring the Future
Prospect/BECTU has been successful for the past two years in securing funding from the Union Learning Fund to run a mentoring programme for members in England in the creative, culture and communications sectors. The programme is a peer led and peer designed scheme to support the individual goals of union members and offers up to 10 hours of mentoring support over six months.
Would you like to take part?
As a Mentee:
Recruitment for a mentee on the new programme will start in June 2019. If you work in a sector that is covered by the programme you will receive an email inviting you to apply. Your development goals will need to be in the following area for you to take part:
- new to the industry
- returning to your career
- changing career
- young member (under 35)

Please note that if you wish to be considered for the mentee role you must be available on Friday 6th September to attend an orientation day in London. (An alternative orientation day for members based in the north is planned for Tuesday 24th September – TBC.)
If you wish to be considered for the role of mentee please download the Mentee Basic Information form (mentee form), read this document in conjunction with the programme privacy statement which describes the way we will use your data (privacy notice). Once completed return the form to email@example.com by 30th June. Please be aware that we can only offer up to 30 spaces to mentees so you will need to respond as soon as possible.
As a Mentor:
Are you someone who:
- likes listening to people and supporting them?
- has the ability and time to attend a few training sessions and two face to face meetings with your mentee.
- can demonstrate empathy and the ability to help your mentee define and work towards their development goals.
If this describes you; we would love to hear from you. We offer full training and support and feedback from our current cadre of Mentors shows they find the role both rewarding whilst also adding and developing their current skillset.
