8 July 2010
Arqiva members have voted to accept a pay award for 2010 which provides a lump sum increase of £1375 or 2.5%, whichever is the greater.
A consultative ballot on the offer closed on 2 July and members voted overwhelming to accept the offer which will deliver pay rises of between 9.17% (for those paid from £15K per annum) and 2.5% (applies to staff paid £55K and above).
The pay rise will be implemented this month (July 2010) and follows a pay freeze in 2009 which BECTU put into dispute.
Commenting on the award, Towy Neale, chair of the union's Arqiva committee said:
"In many ways it is a just reward for the changes that have taken place over the past 18-24 months and the commitment shown by the membership to digital switchover. BECTU also had a commitment from the company to look at the pay differentials, this work has already started - and talks continue to achieve a closing of the gap."
