BECTU and the South West TUC are hosting two events next month focussed on encouraging theatre and performance venue staff to do more to save energy.
The half-day events, designed by the TUC Green Workplaces Project in partnership with BECTU, will bring together theatre and performance venue staff, be they casual, part-time or freelance with the managers and artistic directors of small venues and arts centres. Attendance is free.
More details and a registration form are available here for the sessions in Exeter and Bristol:
- Exeter Northcott, Thursday 11 February, 10.00 - 13.00
- Bristol Old Vic, Wednesday 17 February, 10.00 - 13.00.
BECTU's Martin Roberts, chief electrician at the Princess Theatre, Torquay and also a union learning organiser and manager of the Technical Workshops in Theatre Project, has been working with the South West TUC to deliver these seminars.
Later this month however, on Tuesday 19 January, and also in Exeter, is Keen to be Green: The Benefits of Becoming a More Sustainable Venue. This session, organised by In Any Event UK with the support of TUC Green Workplaces Project partners Envirowise and the South West RDA, will run from 12.00 - 15.30.
