Members of the production community based at Elstree Studios and beyond, delivered warm tributes to Angela Thomas, background artiste, at a gathering last month.

In contrast to the cold and wet November evening, the many who attended brought warmth and fond memories of Angela who died suddenly in July 2009.

"Eastenders and Holby City both had collections which illustrates how well thought of she was."

"Separately, money came in from others in the business. This widespread display of sympathy is unheard of and just shows the other side of the industry which in this case was compassionate and supportive." said Spencer MacDonald, national official.

Together with the many tributes, a memorial bench to honour Angela's memory was unveiled at the studios. The list of contributors to the fund which paid for the bench reflects all sections of the production community.

Engraving on the memorial bench in honour of Angela Thomas at Elstree StudiosA permanent tribute to Angela Thomas is now in place at Elstree Studios.

In addition, The British Heart Foundation and The Stroke Association also benefitted from the generosity of those who made donations.

Paul Kirby, chair of BECTU's FAA branch, was one of the main organisers of the gathering at Elstree on 27 November 2009.

Thanks were extended to everyone who made a donation and who supported the event to share their memories of Angela Thomas.
