BBC Trust chairman speaks to licence fee payers

9 September 2009

Sir Michael Lyons, the chairman of the BBC Trust, has published an open letter to licence fee payers.

The letter, described as unprecedented, follows the findings of an independent survey commissioned by the BBC which demonstrates that the public is opposed to top-slicing of the licence fee.

BECTU and its partner unions in the Federation of Entertainment Unions have launched a postcard campaign aimed at challenging the proposal set out in Digital Britain that part of the licence fee should be used to fund commercial broadcasters.

Postcards are being distributed by branch representatives across BECTU. Contact us to request a supply.
