Creative Skillset, the industry-led skills body for the UK’s screen industries, has today (Thursday 4 October) rebranded as ScreenSkills.
Following a merger with the Indie Training Fund, the new name marks a renewed focus on screen for the organisation. ScreenSkills will continue to work on commissioning and funding courses both for new entrants and to upskill existing screen professionals.
Seetha Kumar, Chief Executive of ScreenSkills, said: “The Creative Skillset name has a long and honourable heritage. But after a period of huge change and with a renewed focus on screen, it seems sensible to have a clear, new identity. ScreenSkills does what it says on the tin. This is a no-fuss change to give us a name under which we can carry out the work that needs to be delivered in partnership with our colleagues in the industry.”
The new identity is launched with an initiative, Giving Back, which calls on the industry to play its part in ensuring the UK has the skilled workforce needed to make the most of opportunities created by the film and television production boom.
The initiative calls for greater collaboration from those already established in the industry in finding and nurturing new recruits, upskilling existing screen professionals and creating a truly inclusive workforce. For more information go here.
