BECTU and NUJ negotiators have secured a significant pay offer for workers at Al Jazeera following four years of pay freezes.
The two-year offer consists of a consolidated increase in 2018-2019 of 6%, backdated to 1 January, with a 3% rise for 2019-2020.
Both BECTU and the NUJ are running consultative ballots of their members with a recommendation to vote yes.
The breakthrough came after intense negotiations at ACAS following confirmed strike action called for Wednesday 9 May. The strike action, which was overwhelmingly backed by 80% of members in a formal ballot, was suspended earlier this week as a result of the pay offer.
