BECTU joins the March for Jobs on 16 May 2009
16 May 2009
Well done to the BECTU team who took part in today's (Saturday) March for Jobs in Birmingham.
Representatives who look after BECTU members across the board took the time to show their support for the march parading the union's banner.
The March for Jobs was organised by Unite with the support of the TUC's affiliated unions.
Thetrade union movement is calling on the Government to provide more investment in jobsduring the recession to lessen the impact of the downturn on ordinary people.
Impact on BECTU members
There is no question that the recession is affecting BECTU members, but whilst there are several redundancy exercises underway, several of these have more to do with company reorganisations than the immediate impact of the downturn.
The union is keeping the situation, as it affects union members, under constant review.
