Find Your Future 2015, an event for would-be apprentices and trainees in the creative sectors will happen on Wednesday 12 August in London. BECTU issued the following press release today, 23 July 2015.

Find Your Future 2015 – Summer event for creative sector apprentices and trainees

BECTU, the media and entertainment union, is inviting all would-be apprentices and trainees in the creative sector to get their careers underway by joining us for Find Your Future 2015, a day of information gathering and networking.

At the heart of the event will be the all-important ‘Market Place’ where a host of employers, and key industry bodies, will be on hand with information and guidance. Several employers are expected to highlight upcoming apprenticeship and trainee schemes.

Meet the employers

Confirmed participants include:

Association of British Theatre Technicians (ABTT), BBC Academy, BECTU, Creative & Cultural Skills, Creative Skillset, DiVA, Fairfield Halls, High House Production Park, National Theatre, Springboard Media, Stage Electrics and White Light.

Expert presentations

There will also be several presentations providing expert insights into the worlds of film, TV and theatre to help future new entrants.

The BBC Academy will be delivering an interactive workshop; Creative Skillset and Creative and Cultural Skills, respectively the lead training bodies for film & TV and theatre and live events will also be leading information sessions.

Find Your Future will be hosted at Westminster Kingsway College (Kings’ Cross Centre), 211 Grays' Inn Road, London, WC1X 8RA from 10-5pm on Wednesday 12 August. BECTU acknowledges the generous support of Westminster Kingsway College and the Union Learning Fund with the staging of this event.

Free to attend

Free to attend, Find Your Future is particularly aimed at would-be new entrants who have not enrolled for further education.

Lezli Everitt, project leader, explained:

"We are holding this event to help future apprentices and trainees find the right career pathways.  We know, however talented you are, that it can be tough to get on that first rung of the ladder.

“Find Your Future will provide key advice in an informal setting to help future new entrants learn more about the sectors they'd like to work in."
