Union members settle dispute over pay for 2014/15.
Unions representing staff at the BBC have accepted an improved two-year deal tabled in July, following a dispute over pay for 2014/15.
The deal was accepted today, with BECTU members in the BBC voting by 77 per cent to accept the deal and members in BBC S&PP Ltd voted by 94 per cent. Members of the NUJ and Unite also voted to accept the pay deal under separate ballots.
Details of the deal
The details of the two-year pay deal are as follows:
- From 1 August 2014 staff earning less than £50,000 will receive a flat rate increase of £650; staff earning more than £50,000 will receive a flat rate increase of £500; payments to be consolidated
- All allowances and the floors and ceilings of the grades will be increased by 1 per cent
- London Weighting Allowance at the higher level of £4,288 will be payable to all staff earning up to £35,000 (currently the allowance applies to staff earning up to £25K)
- From 1 January 2015, all staff will receive an additional consolidated payment of £150
- From 1 January 2015, all allowances, including the floors and ceilings of the grades will be increased by an additional 1.7 per cent
- From 1 August 2015, all staff will receive a 2.5 per cent increase; all allowances and the floors and ceilings of the grades will increase by 2.5 per cent
The joint unions and the BBC will discuss the implementation of the 110 per cent and 115 per cent salary progression arrangements on the anniversary date, and will later meet with director general Tony Hall, and the new director of HR, to discuss pay disparities at the World Service and Monitoring.
BECTU is investigating changes to annual leave entitlement and pay increases for staff at BBC Television on ‘W12 contracts’, which engage people on 12-day fortnights and so do not uphold BBC holiday rights.
The pay increase will become active from September, along with any backdated payments.
