 A full day-long event - OPEN TO ALL - devoted to the promotion of Scotland’s moving image industries

What?

A day devoted to the promotion of Scotland’s moving image industry – featuring a lively Market Place with the latest information and innovations; demonstrations; a specialist panel discussion and great networking opportunities.

Who?

BECTU, Screen Academy Scotland, Scottish Drama Training Network and BAFTA in Scotland have collaborated to bring you this unique opportunity. If you are freelance, a creator, manager, designer, producer, writer, director, editor, actor, technician, teacher, student - training or working in Scotland’s creative and cultural industries - then this is for you.

Why?

Because there is no better time to discover and learn more about Scotland’s moving image industries; our screen education and training facilities, new inventions and achievements and the future of screen in Scotland and beyond; to network with like-minded colleagues, meet new friends and together expand our horizons.

Registration from 09:30am; Market Place from 10:00am (details below).

Free to attend. Open to BECTU members and non-members. Arrive early as places are limited.

This event takes place during the Edinburgh International Film Festival and the Market Place is also open to those who have an EIFF industry delegate pass.

Programme of Events at Screen Academy Scotland

09.30 – Registration and coffee in foyer.

10.00 – Market Place opens.

Panel dicussions and masterclasses

10.30 – 11.30am Design and VFX: Working together in new territory – Clash or Collaboration? In this BECTU produced session, speakers will include Anna Skrein,  Moley Campbell and Scott Taylor (VFX Supervisor ).

11.45 – 12.45pm Craft Masterclass: speakers for this BAFTA produced session will be confirmed shortly.

Lunch 1pm - 1.45pm (a free sandwich lunch will be provided).

2..00 - 3.00pm Online film distribution with Jamie King (vodo.net) & Colin Kennedy (Sigma Films). An interactive masterclass presented by the Scottish Screen Academy. Our speakers will discuss the pros and cons of distributing and promoting independent feature films online.

3.15 - 4.15pm  Education & Industry : Developing the partnership Discussion will be led by a panel including Maggie Kinloch (chair of the Scottish Drama Training Network and vice principal of The Royal Conservatoire of Music and Drama); Gaynor Holmes (executive producer, BBC Scotland); Paul McManus (Scottish national officer BECTU); Karen O’Hare (Scottish Screen Academy) and Stuart Hepburn (senior lecturer in screen acting University of the West of Scotland).

4.15 - 5.30pm Networking and drinks.

Market Place

The Market Place will exhibit innovative and current technical equipment demonstrated by leading manufacturers and hire companies in Scotland. Organisations supporting the infrastructure of the Scottish industry will also be represented.
