The BBC unions have called members' meetings in London over the next two weeks as part of the campaign for a YES vote in the current ballot over pay, redeployment and appraisals.

The details are:

  • Television Centre (TVC)  - Tuesday 8 May: two meetings 14.00 – 14.30 and 14.45 – 15.15 in Room B200, TVC.
  • Bush House – Tuesday 15 May: two meetings 10.45 – 11.15 and 11.30 – 12.00 in Room 841/842 CB, Bush House.
  • Broadcasting House (NBH) – Wednesday 16 May: two meetings 12.30 – 13.00 and 13.15 – 13.45 in Room 04EM2 (Charles Wheeler), NBH.

The joint unions VOTE YES poster has been printed and is being sent to all BBC buildings.

Helen Ryan, supervisory official said:

"All reps are asked to collect some posters and to display them on notice boards and in relevant areas locally. London based reps are also asked to encourage their members to attend the site meetings."

Also attached to this page is a BECTU campaign leaflet; reps are asked to print this off (both pages please to create a two-sided flyer) and to circulate this as widely as possible to encourage non-members to join BECTU and to support the current campaign.

"A personal approach by a local rep is by far the best way to recruit new members and I am asking all reps to use the current dispute as an opportunity to approach all non-members in your area and invite them to join us," said Helen Ryan.

The vote amongst union members in the BBC and BBC Studios and Post Production got underway on 30 April with the despatch of ballot papers; the ballots will close at 12 noon on Monday 21 May.

If the ballots return votes in favour of strike action, the unions have warned that action could affect the BBC's coverage of next month's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
