BECTU is encouraging members to show their support for public sectors workers on 30 November.
28 November 2011
BECTU is encouraging its members to lend their support to public sector workers during the day of action on Wednesday 30 November.
The fight for public sector pensions is a fight for the people who deliver a network of public sector services including schools, hospitals and a host of essential community projects. The services delivered through the public sector touch all our lives and the people we rely on are entitled to fair employment terms and to a decent pension.
Whilst BECTU members are not striking, it is hoped that all members will find some time during the day to visit local picket lines and/or to support rallies taking place in their area.
London march and rally
BECTU's banner will join the march and rally in London.
The timetable is:
12 noon - assemble Lincoln's Inn Fields, WC2A 3AA (nearest tube station, Holborn)
13.00 - march to Victoria Embankment
14.00 - rally near Westminster Pier, SW1A 2JH
16.00 - rally ends.
Looking ahead to the day of action, Luke Crawley, assistant general secretary said:
"I hope that many of you can show your support for your fellow trade unionists wherever you are. Myself and other BECTU officials will be at the march and rally in London and we look forwarding to seeing members there".
