This is the BECTU reps' course list for BECTU Head Office for 2011 and 2012. Link on the course title for more information about the course itself and simply email us from within the website itself.BECTU rep's courses will give you the skills and knowledge you need to support our members and help make your own workplace a better and fairer place to work.
How the programme works
The programme is run at the union's head office in Clapham and we will run courses around the country where there is sufficient demand. Our reps' courses are accredited with the Open College Network through our partners in the Trade Union Studies Department at South Thames College.
Please email Lesley Burt or call her on 0207 346 0920 for anything to do with booking a place, arranging travel and accommodation or if you have special requirements to enable you to attend. For queries about course content and for advice on which course to take please contact Training Officer, Brian Kelly or check to see whether there are any essential criteria needed for attending any particular course.
If you think that a TUC or GFTU course would better suit you please check the menu on the left of this page.
If you have been appointed as a BECTU workplace representative then you may be entitled to paid release to undergo training for the role (please check with head office).
The course programme 2012
The skills and knowledge developed and the course content is cumulative - so that it is important that you attend numbered courses in the proper order. This will ensure that you are fully briefed and ready for the level you will be expected to work at. However, experienced reps and officers may be able to enter the programme at a more advanced stage depending on their experience - please contact Brian Kelly to discuss this.
