Association of British Theatre Technicians (ABTT)

BECTU Representatives Programme
- The BECTU Reps Programme consists of a range of short courses between 1-3 days long. They are designed to give reps, shop stewards and branch officers the knowledge and skills to be able to carry out their roles effectively.

BECTU Safety Reps part 1

This is part 1 of a 2 part safety reps course that will earn you accreditation as a BECTU safety representative. In part 1 you will learn about the rights and responsibilities of safety reps and carry out a workplace inspection.
The course will be led by a TUC tutor. -
BECTU Safety Reps part 2

This is the second of a two-part programme lasting a total of 6 days. In this course you will look more deeply at risk assessments and other substantive pieces of safety law & practice. Parts 1 & 2 of the BECTU course are the equivalent of Stage 1 of the TUC safety reps course.

BECTU Technical & Professional courses
- The Technical & Professional courses are a programme of editing and other computer-based courses run at head office in London, plus a range of other courses (rigging for theatre, Pyrotechnics) that we run with partners in response to the needs of members.

Branch reps part 1: How to Represent your Members
- Everybody needs help at work sometime - this course will show you how to support and represent your fellow BECTU members effectively both as individuals and collectively. You will also be fully accredited to represent people at formal hearings as required by legislation.

Branch reps part 2: How to organise a union branch
- This course is designed for local branch officers and other branch reps who want to know more about how unions work at loacl level. You will learn how to run meetings, how to improve your local organisation, make policy and build membership

Branch Reps part 3: Introduction to Employment Law
- This is an introduction to individual and collective legal rights at work. You will learn about contracts, redundancy, TUPE and some anti-discrimination law.
