Head Office Course Programme

Welcome to our Head Office Career Development course programme (Spring/Summer) 2010.

Our aim is to provide high-quality training for our members at a reasonable cost, to help you develop your career in the entertainment industies. Our programme is mainly based at BECTU Head Office in London, but we are working on helping members throughout the country to access the right training and we will keep you updated on this. We're always happy to talk to you about our courses or help you find other great training.

Marketing Yourself:

Create Your Own Website

Get a simple website up on the web in one day. Using a free site, you will learn about options for domain names, hosting and end by uploading content. You will need to bring your own laptop and be conversant with using computers and surfing the web.

Effective CV Writing

A specialist media Skillset Careers Advisor will give vital tips on the 'must-dos and don'ts' of CV writing, with plenty of one-to-one advice to help you produce a winning CV by the end of the day. Laptops will be used on this course.

Interview Presentation Skills

Improve your interview technique. Learn how to prepare well, key questions to ask and how to deal with the tricky ones. Gain the confidence to show your skills to their best advantage.

Final Cut Pro 7 - Introduction

An intensive two-day introduction to this latest version 7 high-performance industry-standard software, using our brand-new Apple Macs.

Final Cut Pro 7 - Intermediate

Goes beyond the basics to explore the more creative possibilities of Final Cut Pro 7. There is scope to work on your own projects during the course.

In association with Ravensbourne College of Communication and Design. Must have excellent knowledge of Final Cut Pro.
Adobe Photoshop - an Introduction
One of the premiere photo editing/DTP packages, a brief introduction.
Mac OS Introduction
Becoming familiar with the basics of using a Mac. No previous experience required.
