How do Stakeholder Pensions impact on me as an employee?
The Government believes the best way to make Stakeholder Pensions available is to provide access through an employer.
This means that unless your employer qualifies for an exemption, (by providing an alternative type of pension scheme which meets certain criteria), they must provide the facility for you to join a Stakeholder Pension Scheme.
They must designate a stakeholder pension provider of their choice. Your employer does not have to contribute into a stakeholder pension scheme for you - although they can do so if they wish.
