Stakeholder Pension
The BECTU Stakeholder Pension has been specifically designed for individuals working within the entertainment industry.
Many BECTU members are already members of good quality occupational pensions or may already have established personal pensions into which they are contributing.
However, there are also many members who have no pension provision in place and will be relying on the state pension plus personal savings when they reach retirement.
This situation is not uncommon; across the country millions of workers face the prospect of inadequate pension provision and being forced to rely upon the state.
However, as life expectancy increases and the birth rate falls, the ratio of the retired population to the working population is increasing. It is for this reason that through the introduction of stakeholder pensions the government is looking to change the balance between the state and private provision.
