Animation rates

The current BECTU recommended rates for productions utilising animation have been withdrawn pending revision.

Footage Rates

In the exceptional event that a footage rate or fee is utilised, this rate should take account of the likely time required to complete each foot and shall in all cases be cumulatively higher than the minimum rate for the equivalent daily or weekly period.

The contract should be reviewed after four weeks work has been completed to ensure that the footage rate earned is greater than the equivalent minimum payment for a four-week contract. Where payment falls below this level, the Producer undertakes to pay an additional sum, which should be commensurate with the hours worked, to raise the fee above the equivalent minimum rate.

Consultation

Where an individual is consulted on the cost and schedule of a production, that individual should be paid an agreed fee for that consultation, regardless of whether he/she has any further involvement in the project. The consultation fee should reflect the individual's rate and should be no less than one quarter of the weekly rate for each consultation session.

Copyright

The process of animation involves work in different grades. In some of which the work done is protected by copyright, in others it is not. BECTU offers its members support and advice. But by far the best way to enjoy the rewards of you skill and labour is to take simple precautions from the very start.

Hours and holidays

Maximum hours of work and minimum paid holidays are now set by legislation. If you have any queries about how this or any of the other items affects you, contact BECTU's London Production Division at BECTU Head Office.
