Staff on EastEnders are taking strike action today (Thursday 12 August) in a dispute over travel time and expenses.
The staff affected, all of whom work for Studios and Post Production Ltd, a BBC subsidiary, are contesting their employer's decision to remove long-established entitlements to travel time and expenses relating to a change in base from Television Centre to Elstree.
Today's action, which involves a group of 27 staff, will be followed by a period of further strike action on each of the following days: Friday 20 August, Thursday 26 August and Wednesday 1 September.
In addition, a range of continuous action short of strike is set to start on 18 August.
"This dispute will only be resolved by further talks with management. We hope that today's action will encourage management to resume serious talks," said Helen Ryan, supervisory official.
