1 October 2009
This annual conference invites the union's women members to come together in the welcoming TUC Congress Centre to celebrate being a woman and a trade union member.
Titled Why Women? this year's event will demonstrate why women are so important to BECTU and to our industries.
Join us on Saturday 24 October at TUC Congress House, London WC1. Contact Tracey Hunt to book or call Tracey on 020 7346 0900. This event is open to members only.
This year’s guest speakers are BECTU general secretary, Gerry Morrissey and Sarah Veale, head of equality and employment rights at the TUC.
In addition, a range of inspiring and practical workshops will fill the day.
These include:
- ‘Go Green at Work’ - debate how you can ‘green’ your workplace both from an employed and freelance perspective.
- ‘Gender and Globalisation’ - discuss the challenges for women in trade unions around the world and find out how you can become involved in international development.
- 'Using the BECTU Website' - hear how to make the most of this exciting new resource.
- 'Public Speaking' - learn and apply public speaking techniques to a formal speech or presentation.
There will be plenty of time to meet with women from across the union over lunch (which will be provided) or at our end of event pub quiz.
"Whether you are a new or established member, join us on 24 October, you'll be made welcome" said Kate Elliott, equality officer.
