BECTU has welcomed the CEA's response and is looking to arrange an early meeting. The CEA represents the interests of cinema exhibitors across the UK.
The development follows interest from several leading cinema chains to join an industry-wide discussion which the union hopes will provide security for the role going forward.
National official, Mick Corfield, and senior lay representatives have been working over the summer to bring all parties together.
Looking ahead, Mick Corfield said:
"We are hoping to be able to make the role profile available online to BECTU members on the very day we meet with the exhibitors.
"There is nothing in its content that is controversial - and it is a working document - but our current and future members have to understand that the role has to change if we are to safeguard jobs."
Contact Mick Corfield to take part in the discussion.
