Rigging Awareness - £120 + VAT per person

* Regulations and who has duties under them
* LOLER, PUWER, WAHR, PPE
* Planning, organising and supervising lifting operations
* Inspection of equipment and certification
* Rigging terminology
* Lifting safety
* Rigging principles including beams, pulleys, angles of lift; using chain motors and trusses; using barrels on hemp and counterweight sets

* Definition of working at height in the entertainment industry
* Working at Height Regulations 2005
* The hierarchy of fall prevention and safe systems of work
* Fall arrest theory – fall factors and energy absorbers
* Fall arrest, rope access and work positioning
* Selection and specification of PPE for work at height
* The dangers of using fall arrest equipment without proper anchors
* Rescue principles and planning
* Suspension syncope/harness intolerance
(This is a theory course so no PPE is necessary)

Asbestos Awareness - £75 + VAT per person
2pm-5pm, Tuesday 13th October 2009
Delivered by Encompassed Ltd, this is a UKATA registered course.
Topics covered will be:
* The properties of asbestos and its effects on health, including its interaction with smoking
* The types of products or materials likely to contain asbestos
* A short video appropriate to the work undertaken by your workers
* The operations which could result in asbestos exposure and the importance of preventive controls to minimise exposure
* Manager’s Responsibilities
* Role of Asbestos Surveys and how to understand what is in them
* Safe work practices, control measures, and protective equipment
* The purpose, choice, limitations, proper use and maintenance of respiratory protective equipment
* Emergency procedures
