New freelance members can access free public liability insurance until April 2010.
Public liability insurance (PLI) is increasingly a basic requirement for many freelance workers.
New freelance BECTU members can take advantage of free PLI up to the April following their date of joining.
This means that freelance members who join in May can take advantage of up to 12 months free cover. The policy available through the union provides protection for claims of up to £5m.
PLI is just part of a range of Benefits and Services provided by BECTU.
Established freelance members pay an annual top-up on their membership subscription to renew their insurance cover. The renewal fee for 2009/10 is just £23.
