World Service strike action lifted

World Service staff support action in February 2009

2 April 2009

World Service management, BECTU and the NUJ, have agreed to continue talks over the coming weeks to resolve the dispute in the South Asia Service.

In the light of this continuing dialogue, the industrial action called for 3 and 9 April has been cancelled.

BECTU members will receive further information on the progress of these talks shortly.

The joint union dispute, which has been running since last summer, centres on a significant restructuring of the South Asia service which threatens a number of job losses.

Joint union members took strike action in February to encourage a return to constructive talks.
