Mayday, also known as International Workers' Day, is celebrated by the labour movements in more than 80 countries around the world, and many rallies are being planned in the UK, some on Tuesday 1 May, with others falling on the weekend either before or after.
BECTU's banner will be joining the major London Mayday march to Trafalgar Square, and members in the South East are invited to support that event, starting at 12.00 in Clerkenwell Green, London EC1R 0EG. (Nearest tube Farringdon).

Elsewhere, there will be regional and city-based rallies, most of which traditionally attract large turn-outs, even when 1 May falls on a weekday, as it does this year.

Mayday is a great opportunity to meet other trades unionists, and to show that we care about workers' rights. Please check your local events and join in if possible.
