Cinema activist, Brian Spencer, has died

A chief cinema projectionist by trade, Brian was a union representative of many years experience who spoke up for the projectionist’s craft and for the rights of cinema workers. He worked for the ABC Cinemas circuit and its successor companies.

Brian served the membership both at local level and on the union's National Executive Committee. His long association with the union spanned BECTU and its predecessors BETA and NATTKE.

The union sends its condolences to Brian’s family and to his many friends.

A fuller tribute is being prepared and will be published in the union’s journal, Stage Screen and Radio.
