The TUC is leading the public campaign against the cuts
11 October 2010
BECTU will be supporting the TUC rally and lobby against government spending cuts on Tuesday 19 October.
Update: TUC's Video Report on the Rally and Lobby of Parliament
The event takes place the day before the government's announcements on its Comprehensive Spending Review on 20 October.
The anticipated budget cuts will not only affect the everyday life of every UK citizen but will directly impact on several of the sectors organised by BECTU where there is a reliance on public funding.
Supporters can also now use the TUC's new campaign website Going to Work to register concerns about the cuts with their MPs.
From the BBC, to theatres and arts centres across the country to film production and investment in education and training - extensive cuts would damage the cultural sector and blight future employment prospects.
The 19 October rally which runs from 12.30 - 14.00 hours at Westminster Central Hall (doors open at 12.00) will be a major focus of public opposition to the cuts and BECTU members are being encouraged to attend.
Members will be able to lobby their MPs from 14.30 at the House of Commons. More information, including advice on how to lobby MPs, on the TUC website.
