History Project home

The History Project is organised by an entirely voluntary committee open by invitation to those interested in actively participating in its work.

  • Recording oral history - life memories from the compass of film, television, radio and related areas of production. Thousands of hours of recorded speech are preserved for posterity.
  • Assisting research - answering history related enquiries for television and radio programmes, films, books, academic research, exhibitions and festivals (in association with the National Film and Television Archive).
  • Reclaiming artefacts and ephemera - from our industry's past to ensure their survival. Posters, stills, trade publications, scripts and many similar items have been safeguarded.
  • Sorting and collating specialised archives - illustrating an inheritance from the past and to be the witness of our own times.
  • Organising occasional events and screenings - featuring key aspects of media production history and paying tribute to those who made it happen.

The History Project welcomes all donations and offers of practical assistance no matter how small to enable us to continue our work.
