Divisions

Each member of BECTU, in addition to being a member of a Branch, is also a member of one of five Divisions listed on this page:

Each has a Divisional Committee, made up of representatives from across the relevant Division, which reports to the NEC.

Some Divisions have Sub-Divisional Committees (SDCs) which provide representation of specific groups of Branches.


Arts and Entertainment Division (A&E)

Members working in:

  • Live theatre and arts
  • Cinema distribution and exhibition (including managerial)
  • Leisure
  • Bingo
  • Computer games industry
  • Other entertainment fields not allocated to other Divisions

BBC Division

Members employed by:

  • The BBC
  • Organisations controlled by the BBC
  • Companies providing a continuing service to the BBC

and all members working on the premises of such organisations who are employed by companies which provide a continuing service to those organisations.

The Division includes members working in various organisations.


Independent Broadcasting Division

Members employed by:

  • ITV
  • Channel 4
  • Channel Five
  • S4C
  • Ofcom
  • Virgin Media
  • Arqiva
  • National and local independent radio companies
  • Satellite and cable companies

and all members working on the premises of such organisations who are employed by companies which provide a continuing service to those organisations.


London Production Division (LPD)

London and the South East members working in:

  • Freelance Branches
  • Craft Branches
  • Facility houses
  • Grant-aided workshops
  • Independent production companies
  • Educational technology
  • Animation and film studios
  • Background artistes in film and television
  • Film laboratories and audio/non-broadcast duplication

Regional Production Division (RPD)

Covering the same areas as LPD for members working in the Nations and Regions.
