FAA
In July 1995 the Film Artistes' Association (FAA, founded in 1927) transferred its engagements to BECTU.
The FAA, representing background artists, walk-ons and doubles, had suffered hard from the film industry's recession and its own internal wranglings, and had initially sought a transfer to Equity, the actors' union. However, that union chose not to open its doors.
Wishing to remain in the community of entertainment trade unions rather than transfer to one of the large conglomerate unions, the FAA turned successfully to BECTU, and now forms a distinctive sub-division of its London Production Division.
